The stock Parking Brake Cables on the S550 rear assembly can work with the factory parking brake system, but they need a little help.  This kit provides a way to secure the S550 parking cable to the F100 cross member, and includes a threaded extension bar for the brake equalizer!

The part of the S550 Parking Brake Cable that mounts to the vehicle does not fit the holes in the cross member below the bed of the 1976-1972 F100 where the factory parking brake cable is secured.  This kit includes a stainless steel bracket (and mounting hardware) that is sized to fit the S550 cables and allows them to be mounted to the cross member below the bed in the same location as the stock cable.  The kit also includes an extended threaded bar to reach from the stock parking brake pivot assembly under the bed of the truck to the equalizer bar.  If you are attempting to use this kit with the long bed trucks, you will need extension cables to reach from the S500 cables to the equalizer bar (like the extension pieces that are already on the long bed F100 trucks).

Installation is simple, place the bracket on the front edge of the cross member and center it with holes in the brackets and the holes in the cross member.  Mark the smaller center hole location on the cross member to be drilled.  Remove the bracket and drill the single hole with a 5/16" drill bit.  Reinstall the bracket on the opposite face of the cross member where you just drilled the hole, and secure it with the included nut and bolt, but don't tighten completely yet.  Feed the S550 cables through the larger rear holes on the cross member and click them into the new stainless steel bracket.  Finish tightening the singe bolt in the bracket.  Install the equalizer on the two cable ends.  Remove the two jam nuts off the extension bar, feed it into the stock parking brake pivot system, slide the bar into the equalizer and thread on the two nuts.  Tighten the two nuts to your desired location to ensure proper parking brake engagement.  See link to installation video.

If you have the long bed 1967-1972 F100 truck, you will need to use the parking brake extension cables already in place on the truck.  These are roughly 16 inches long.  You'll need to verify you have these extensions before ordering this kit for the long bed trucks.

What you get:  One stainless steel mounting bracket, the nut and bolt to secure it to the cross member, and one threaded extension bar (see pics).
